Thora Birch (born March 11, 1982) is an American actress. She was one of the leading child actors of the 1990s, starring in movies such as Patriot Games (1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Clear and Present Danger (1994), Now and Then (1995), and Alaska (1996). Since this she has moved on to more mature roles, with notable performances in films such as American Beauty (1999), and the acclaimed cult film Ghost World (2001).

Birch was born in Los Angeles, California, the eldest child of Jack Birch and Carol Connors. Both her parents (who have managed her career and remain her managers up to the present day) were former adult film actors and both appeared in the pornographic film, Deep Throat. Birch is of Jewish, Nordic, and Italian descent. The family's original surname was "Biersch", coming from her German Jewish ancestors. The name 'Thora' is a feminized form of the name Thor, the God of the Sky and of Thunder in Norse mythology. Birch lives in Southern California. She is a vegan and holds a blue belt in karate.

From an early age, Birch was encouraged by her parents to audition for commercials. She landed several parts representing companies such as Quaker Oats and Vlasic Pickles. In 1988, she broke into acting when landing the role of Molly in the short-lived television series Day By Day in which she was billed simply as "Thora." That same year she played an important role in the movie Purple People Eater opposite Ned Beatty and Neil Patrick Harris for which she won a Youth In Film Award for her performance.

Birch's breakthrough role came in 1991 when she was cast as 'tomboy' Billie Pike in the movie Paradise which also starred Don Johnson, Melanie Griffith and Elijah Wood. To obtain the role, she had to compete with more than 4,000 other young hopefuls who auditioned for it. Birch received enormous praise for her performance and her career thereafter went from strength to strength. Birch's ability to portray herself as a young tomboy landed her several parts during the period 1991-1995, including the role of Dani in Hocus Pocus (1993). Her acting ability moreover continued to attract much praise and she won leading roles in such films as All I Want for Christmas (1991) and Monkey Trouble (1994). She also appeared in two big-budget blockbuster Harrison Ford films, Patriot Games (1992) and its sequel, Clear and Present Danger (1994).

Birch's performed in the 1995 film Now and Then. It also starred Gaby Hoffmann, Christina Ricci, Demi Moore and Melanie Griffith. Directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, the film is about four friends who have been so preoccupied with their own lives that they have not seen one another for some time until the impending birth of one of their babies reunites them. Upon reuniting, they reminisce about events during the summer of 1970 when they were 12 which were ultimately influential in shaping their lives. Birch won critical acclaim for her performance.

Tammin Pamela Sursok (born August 19, 1983) is an Australian Logie Award-winning actress and musician. She is known for the roles of Dani Sutherland on Home and Away and Colleen Carlton on The Young and the Restless. She also launched a short-lived singing career (under the name Tammin), with her debut single, "Pointless Relationship", released on November 14, 2004 and debuting in the top 10 of the Australian singles chart the following week.

Tammin Sursok was born on August 19th, 1983 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and at the age of 4, she emigrated to Australia. Her mother, Julie is a classically trained pianist and guitarist and as a result, Sursok was brought up surrounded by music. As a youngster, Tammin was involved with the Sydney Youth Musical Theatre where she pursued her interests in acting, music and dance. She also attended the Trinity Speech and Drama College and finished with a High Distinction. In her final years of school, she studied speech and drama while attending Ravenswood School for Girls in Gordon, Sydney. She won her part in Home and Away at the end of 1999 after completing Year 10.

In the year 2000, Sursok began her role as Dani Sutherland on the popular Australian series "Home and Away". In 2001, she was nominated for and won the Logie Award for Best New Female Talent category. During 2002, Tammin had the honour of being selected as Junior Youth Ambassador for NSW and in 2003 she received the Australian Centenary Medal for her 'Service to Australian Society and Acting'. While Sursok was busy working Home and Away, she also begun taking steps towards starting a music career by writing her own songs and practicing the guitar. In the year 2004, the same year she was nominated for Australian of the Year, Sursok left Home and Away to concentrate fully on her budding musical career.

In early 2004, Sursok began recording material for her debut album "Whatever Will Be". Jetsetting across the globe, she worked with high profile producers responsible for churning out hits for some of the music industry's biggest names including Britney Spears, Dido and Christina Aguilera. Sursok's hard work paid off with her debut single "Pointless Relationship" being the #1 most added single to Australian radio in late October, 2004. It went on to reaching a high point of #5 on the ARIA charts and also earning Platinum accreditation (70,000+ copies shipped).

Sursok's second single "Whatever Will Be" was the #1 most added track to Australian Radio in early March and debuted and reached of #13 on the ARIA singles chart, the single became a moderate success. Soon afterm, Sursok's debut album, "Whatever Will Be" was released and reached a high point of #13 on the ARIA album chart. The third single from the album "It's a Beautiful Thing" debuted at #30 in the ARIA singles chart.

In August of 2005, Sursok temporarily relocated to the UK and made preparations for "Pointless Relationship" to be released as her international debut. However, the release was cancelled due to the lack of support the song receieved.

In early 2006 Sursok officially moved into an apartment in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles where she is concentrating on her acting career. She has filmed a guest role on David Spade's "Rules of Engagement", spent a month in Kansas filming a lead role in the independent film "Albino Farm", has completed a supporting role in the movie "Crossing Over" which stars Ray Liotta, Sean Penn, Harrison Ford and Ashley Judd. Sursok has also taken on the role of "Colleen Carlton" on the long running US soap The Young and the Restless.
