Reese Witherspoon Biography

Witherspoon landed her first feature role as the leading actress in the movie The Man in the Moon in 1991. Her performance received positive reviews, which became a motivation for her to continue an acting career. Witherspoon's performance in Freeway in 1996 established her as a rising star, and led to roles in three major movies Overnight Delivery, Pleasantville and Twilight in 1998. In 1999, Witherspoon appeared in the critically acclaimed Election, which garnered her first Golden Globe nomination. 2001 saw her breakout role as Elle Woods in the box office hit Legally Blonde, and in the following year, she starred in Sweet Home Alabama, which became her biggest commercial success to date. In 2005, Witherspoon received worldwide attention and praise for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in Walk the Line, a role that earned her an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress.

Witherspoon married actor Ryan Phillippe in 1999 and has two children, Ava and Deacon. She and Phillippe separated at the end of 2006 and divorced in October 2007. Witherspoon was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, into a middle-class family. Her father, John Witherspoon, is a Georgia-born otolaryngologist who previously served as a lieutenant colonel in the US Army reserves. Her mother, Betty, is a Ph.D pediatric nurse from Harriman, Tennessee, who works as a professor of nursing at Vanderbilt University. Witherspoon is a direct descendant of Scotland-born John Witherspoon, the sixth president of Princeton University and a signatory of the United States Declaration of Independence. Because Witherspoon's father worked for the US military in Wiesbaden, Germany, she lived there for four years as a small child. After returning to the United States, she settled and spent her childhood in Nashville, Tennessee, where she was raised in the Episcopalian religion.

Teri Hatcher Biography

Teri Lynn Hatcher (born 8 December 1964, Palo Alto) is an award-winning American actress best known for her roles as Lois Lane in the American television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and Susan Mayer in the American television series Desperate Housewives. She is also a "Bond Girl", having played Paris Carver in Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997.

Hatcher was born in Palo Alto, California, the daughter of Esther (née Beshur), a computer programmer who worked for Lockheed Martin, and Owen W. Hatcher, a nuclear physicist and electrical engineer. Hatcher's father was of Welsh and distant Choctaw Native American descent, and her mother had French, German, and Syrian ancestry. Hatcher grew up in Sunnyvale, California. An only child, she attended Mango Junior High (now Sunnyvale Middle School), Fremont High School in Sunnyvale and De Anza College in Cupertino.

In March 2006, Hatcher revealed to Vanity Fair that she was sexually abused from the age of five by Richard Hayes Stone, an uncle by marriage who was later divorced by Hatcher's aunt. Her parents, she said, were unaware of the abuse at the time. In 2002, she assisted Santa Clara County prosecutors in indicting Stone for a more recent molestation that led his female victim to commit suicide at the age of fourteen. Stone pleaded guilty to four counts of child molestation and was sentenced to 14 years in prison. In an interview appearing in Vanity Fair, Hatcher said she told the prosecutors about her own abuse because she was haunted by thoughts of the 14-year-old girl who shot herself, and feared Stone might escape conviction.

Hatcher began her performing career as a young girl taking ballet lessons at the San Juan Girls' Ballet Studio in downtown Los Altos, California. She later studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater. One of her early jobs (in 1984) was as a cheerleader with the San Francisco 49ers. During this time, she also appeared as one of the mermaids on the show The Love Boat in its final season.

Drew Barrymore Biography

Drew Blyth Barrymore (born February 22, 1975) is an Emmy Award- and Golden Globe-nominated American actress and film producer, the youngest member of the Barrymore family of American actors. She has her own production company, Flower Films. Barrymore made her screen début in Altered States (1980); her breakout role two years later was in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. She quickly became one of Hollywood's most recognized child actresses going on to establish herself in mainly comic roles.

Barrymore was born in Culver City, California, the daughter of American actor John Drew Barrymore and Ildiko Jaid Barrymore (née Makó), an aspiring actress born in a displaced persons camp in Brannenburg, West Germany to Hungarian World War II refugees. Her parents divorced after she was born. She has a half-brother John Blyth Barrymore, also an actor, and two half-sisters, Blyth Dolores Barrymore and Brahma (Jessica) Blyth Barrymore. Her maternal great-grandfather, John Drew, the actor, was Irish-born, and immigrated to the US, in the 19th Century.

Barrymore was born into the acting profession, coming from a long line of acting talent stretching back nearly 200 years; her great-great grandparents John Drew, Louisa Lane Drew, her great-grandparents Maurice Barrymore, Georgiana Drew and Maurice Costello, and her grandparents John Barrymore and Dolores Costello were all highly successful actors; John Barrymore was arguably the most acclaimed actor of his generation. She is the grand-niece of Lionel Barrymore, Ethel Barrymore (whom Winston Churchill once proposed to), and Helene Costello, and the great grandniece of John Drew, Jr., actress Louisa Drew, and silent film actor/writer/director Sidney Drew. Her father and half-brother are also actors. She is also the god-daughter of director Steven Spielberg.

Her first name, Drew, was the maiden name of her paternal great-grandmother, Georgiana Drew; her middle name, Blyth, was the original surname of the dynasty founded by her great-grandfather, Maurice Barrymore.
