Ada Nicodemou Biography

Ada Nicodemou (born May 14, 1977 in Sydney, Australia) is an Australian actress, best known for her role as Leah Patterson-Baker in the soap opera Home and Away.

She made her TV debut in 1991, in an episode of Police Rescue. Nicodemou first auditioned for Home and Away at the age of 16, losing the role to Laura Vasquez, the audition led to some work as an extra on the show. In 1994, at the age of 17, Nicodemou was cast as Katarina on Heartbreak High. Although the role was initially to be a 12-week stint, she remained on the show for three years. While filming the show, she completed her high school studies by correspondence.

After leaving Heartbreak High, Nicodemou studied Tourism at TAFE. She returned to television in 1998, playing Fiona Motson on the short-lived Breakers. In 1999, she played DuJour (the White Rabbit Girl) in The Matrix.

Nicodemou made several other television appearances before joining the cast of Home and Away in 2000 as a regular cast member. She has been nominated several times for the Gold Logie as Australia's Most Popular Television Performer at the Logie Awards. In 2005, she and professional dancer Aric Yegudkin won the final of Dancing with the Stars. Also in 2005, Nicodemou (along with Kate Ritchie) was bridesmaid in Bec Cartwright's wedding to Lleyton Hewitt.

Aaliyah Dana Haughton (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001), best known as Aaliyah, was an American singer, dancer, actress, and model. Introduced to audiences by R&B singer R. Kelly, Aaliyah became famous during the mid-1990s with several hit records from the songwriting/production team of Missy Elliott and Timbaland and their associate Steve "Static" Garrett. Aaliyah soon joined Timbaland's R&B and hip hop collective, the Superfriends Clique.

She is notable for recording several hit records, including several number one R&B hits, a number one pop hit, and five top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. She has sold 32 million records worldwide. She also modeled for Tommy Hilfiger and starred in two motion pictures before dying tragically in a plane crash in the Bahamas.

Aaliyah was born in Bedford-Stuyvesant, a neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City, New York to Michael and Diane Haughton, and was raised in Detroit, Michigan. Her name means "Highest, Most Exalted, The Best" in Arabic language. Aaliyah was brought up as a Catholic with her older brother Rashad Haughton. Her grandmother, Mintis L. Hicks Hankerson, was of African American and Native American descent. Diane Haughton, Aaliyah's mother, also a vocalist, encouraged her daughter's career.

She appeared on the TV talent show Star Search at age ten, singing her mother's favorite song, "My Funny Valentine". Although she did not win, Aaliyah worked with an agent in New York and began to attend auditions for TV shows, including "Family Matters".

Following her appearance on Star Search Aaliyah performed on stage in Las Vegas, Nevada with Gladys Knight. In her early teens, Aaliyah attended the Detroit High School for the Fine and Performing Arts, and graduated as a Dance major with a 4.0 GPA.

In 1995, it surfaced that 15-year-old Aaliyah and 27-year-old R. Kelly had secretly married on August 31, 1994. Both artists' camps initially denied the wedding had taken place, but Vibe magazine published a copy of their marriage license, which showed that Aaliyah's age had been falsely listed as 18. The marriage was annulled a few months later.

Alicia Silverstone was born in San Francisco, California to Monty Silverstone, a real-estate investor, and Didi Radford, a former flight attendant. Silverstone's father is English-born and her mother is Scottish. Her father, a native of East London, is Jewish and her mother converted to Judaism upon marrying Silverstone's father. She attended San Mateo High School but did not complete her high school studies. Silverstone is the youngest of three children and also has a half-sister, London rock singer Kezi Silverstone, and a half-brother, David Silverstone, both from her father's previous marriage. Silverstone visited England during the summer during her childhood. When she was six, she began modeling and was subsequently cast in television commercials, the first being for Domino's Pizza.
